Caber Coffee donates more than £4,400 to good causes

Published on: Aug 5, 2016

Customers of Aberdeen-based Caber Coffee have helped the company make donations of more than £4,400 to deserving causes.

The cash windfalls have been made possible thanks to the generosity of people enjoying ETHYCO, Caber Coffee’s Fairtrade ingredient range which, as well as supporting the communities where the product is grown, donates a percentage of the revenue generated by sales to UK-based social enterprise projects.

Beneficiaries sharing in the latest round of donations are Community Food Initiatives North East (CFINE), Inverurie-based Fly Cup Catering and Gairloch and Loch Ewe Action Forum.

In addition, sales of the company’s special Mission Motorsport blend of coffee have enabled a donation of more than £2,000 to the charity.  This underlines Caber Coffee’s long-term support of the charitable organisation which was set up in 2012 to help find hope and futures for people leaving the forces through sickness or injury.

Caber Coffee managing director Findlay Leask said: “Simply by enjoying a cup of coffee, people can do great things for good causes and we are delighted to once again pass on these donations to deserving causes throughout the country.”

Community Food Initiatives North East CEO Dave Simmers commented: “CFINE is delighted to be receiving this support from Caber Coffee’s ETHYCO range.  We support over 5,000 disadvantaged and vulnerable individuals and families each year and our budgets are under tremendous pressure; this donation is both much needed and appreciated.

“The finance will contribute to our vehicle costs which transport hundreds of tonnes of food each year to 170 partners, including voluntary organisations and churches, in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire who in turn make this food available free to people in food poverty. This critical lifeline to people in real need will be supported through this donation.”

James Cameron, CEO of Mission Motorsport added: “We are a small charity with a big job to do, and while we have support from the major service charities and the Royal Foundation we still need to conduct our own fundraising to make ends meet.

“Caber Coffee have been supporters from the outset, and what began as a limited experiment - giving Mission Motorsport our own brand of coffee - has yielded incredible results.  We are so grateful to Findlay and the Caber Coffee team on their generosity in donations.”
